Coffee Tours
About the activity
We started way back in 2016 mainly concentrating on Arabicca Coffee which is known for its strong exceptional Aroma and stand alone coffee, meaning its sweeter than any other coffee like robusta coffee. Thats why at Mt.Elgon, we bring the most undisputed type of coffee grown on the slopes of Mt.Elgon, Sipi, Kapchorwa laying at the heart of Uganda.
Origin of Arabicca Coffee
It is believed that Arabicca Coffee must have originated from Ethopia by coffee herder boy called Kaldi in 850CE in Kaffa-Ethopia passed through the monks and nuns in early church later to Saudi Arabia in Yemen and finally other parts of Europe presently Brazil in South America.
What we do during Coffee Tour
Small brief to our clients by outlining the ten stages of processing the coffee including the four packages in coffee tour and different processing methods, brewing and whole story continues down about the origin of Arabicca Coffee.
We teach clients both theory and practical skills of processing coffee with our unique introduction to coffee which is called coffee tea, from coffee pulp (cascara in Spain) served in a couple of few minutes before real coffee.

I did the coffee-tour in December 2024 and it was a really nice experience. Silas picked me up at my campsite and took me in the mountains above the Sipi-Falls. There we sat down as he took me trough the 10 stages of making a coffee. From growing the plant to tasting Silas explained it all. I would have liked to get a full cup of coffee in the end instead of just a shot-glass to try but exept from that the tour was amazing!

We had an amazing coffee tour with Silas. He picked us up from our accomodation and walked with us to a small coffee garden with a lovely view. He explained all of the processes of coffee making. The best part was participating in hulling and roasting the coffee beans so we could make our own delicious coffee. Would thoroughly recommend, definitely good value for money
